Early string less type. Very heavy cropping. Red flower. With a pod length of 28-30cm. Runner beans prefer moist soil in a sunny sheltered position. Not too windy. Can be grown in containers at least 16 inches in diameter. They do not like the cold don’t plant out too early. Start them off inside for best results. End of April, beginning of May sow one bean 5cm deep in a pot with good quality organic compost. Label and place on a sunny windowsill. Should be ready to plant out in a couple of weeks. Gradually acclimatise them to the outside temperature by placing them out for a few hours for a few days or place in a cold frame. Sow direct in soil from late May. Use cane supports in a wigwam pattern etc. Always plant two seeds about three inches deep, next to your support in case one does not show. Sowing period April to May. Harvest July onwards.

COMPANION PLANTS. Marigolds deter many insects. Cabbages, carrots, and radishes. EASE OF GROWING. Fairly easy.
