Planting and sowing instructions
Sow February. March, April. Harvest July, August, September, October. Eggplants like warm weather and will not fare well if planted in the garden early. Start seeds indoors 5 weeks before the last frost date. Allow plenty of room per plant. At least a foot on either side. Eggplants are hungry so plant up with compost. When transplanted give plenty of space between plants. A little over a foot should be ok. Pick when full size. Pick regularly. For outdoor sowing plant in fertile soil 90cm apart, in rows spaced 90-120cm apart.
Companion planting information
Potatoes, spinach, runner beans, peppers and tomatoes.
