Planting and sowing instructions
Sow February, March, April, May and October. Harvest March to November. Sow from March to June. Direct sow outdoors in a well prepared seedbed for transplanting later on. Sow 1cm deep and 30 cm between rows. Transplant about 5 weeks after sowing. Sow indoors at a depth of 1cm in trays of free draining compost. Place in a propagator or sealed container inside a plastic bag until after germination which takes around 7 days. Transplant seedlings into 7.5cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions until plants are large enough to plant outdoors. Acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions and then plant 25cm between plants and 60cm for larger heads. Cover with netting and water in well after planting.
